Four Tips For Choosing The Right Glasses Frames

If you wear glasses, then you know how dramatically your look can change depending on the frames you put on. You may love the way you look in one pair of glasses, but feel totally awkward in another pair. Choosing glasses can feel like an uphill battle, too! Follow these tips to simplify the process and make sure you find a pair you like.

Consider Your Face Shape

The best frame shape for you depends largely on the shape of your face. If your face is very round, for instance, you will look better in rectangular frames because they help slenderize your look. If you have an oval face, you'll look good in wider, larger rectangular frames. Those with diamond and heart-shaped faces tend to look best in narrow frames and round frames. Keep in mind that these are just guidelines to steer you towards the right part of the rack to get started!

Determine If You Have Warm or Cool Skin Tones

Picking the right frames requires you to choose the right color, too! The easiest way to pick a good color is to first analyze you skin tone. Do you have blue undertones? If so, you have cool skin. Do you have brown or greenish undertones? Then you have warm skin. If you're not sure what undertone your skin has, visit a drugstore and find a foundation makeup that matches your skin. Then, see if it is labeled warm or cool.

If you have warm skintones, look for frames in brown or blue shades. If you have cool skintones, the glasses that look best on you will be gray or black.

Think About Your Lifestyle

If you primarily spend your time working in an office, then you can certainly go with classic frames made from fiberglass. However, if you are very active, you may want bendable frames that won't distort if you bump into something or get hit with a baseball! These cost a bit more, but you'll save money in the long run because they're less likely to break.

Ask for Opinions

If you are torn between two or three pairs of glasses like those from SouthPark Optical Center, ask the store associate for their opinion. Sometimes, people tend to be overly critical of their own appearance, but other may think you look great! Having someone else weigh in can help you narrow down your options to one.
